My F3K competition results

2006

The 2006 season, which was my first season competing again in RC model gliding contests since the 1990's was a very enjoyable one. I met a lot of new friends, visited some beautiful flying locations and had some great times

Highlights were coming 48th/90 at the German Open Championships in Laucha (the unofficial Euro champs) and also improving my performance in the UK contests, month by month, and taking my average score from being the in the 70%'s at the start of the season, to the high 90%'s at the end of the 2006 season.

2007

I competed in the German Open at Kaltenkirchen in Germany in May 2007 and came a disapointing 56th out of 92. Lack of practice and preperation for this tough event took it's toll. Still it was a great experience, nice to meet F3K friends old and new and there is always next year...!

I also competed in the German Eurotour event at Delmenhorst in August, 07 which turned out to be a great contest and came 11th out of 32 which wasn't too bad considering that some of the Eurotour's top F3K pilots were taking part and the overall standard of flying was very high.

The UK 2007 F3K season went well. Due to work and family comitments plus having attended two German events, I only managed to attend four of the UK F3K league events in 2007. However, I came 2nd in two of the four events, with UK league scores of 93.6% , 95.8%, 93.4% and 95.2%

I changed my flying style and tactics fairly radically towards the end of the season, using lessons learnt from attending the German contests. This seemed to produce far better results, including a 2nd out of 22 at the end of the 2007 UK season.

2008

The 2008 F3K season starts in UK at the end of March (see http://www.barcs.co.uk/ for calendar and entry details). There are eight F3K BMFA league competitions scheduled, with the best four event results from each pilot to count for UK F3K team selection. The top 3 placed UK pilots get UK team places. Due to work comitments I know aleady that there are two of these events I can't make, leaving six UK contests for me in 2008.

In addition I am attending the German Open contest at Salmdorf near Munich in July. I'm really looking forward to this event. The world's top F3K pilots will be there and weather permitting it should be a really enjoyable event. Once the contest entry details were posted on the web, the entry capacity of 110 pilots was filled in about 48 hours, showing the popularity of F3K. More details to follow as the year progresses.
