Greetings... Welcome to F3Ker.com

Welcome to my F3K website. I'm a keen Radio Controlled model glider flyer, based in the United Kingdom.

Back in the 1990's I competed in BARCS Open, F3J and F3B RC glider competitions, but gave aeromodelling up for a while to concentrate on full-size aviation, as well as my family. Recently I wanted to re-start RC model glider flying, but needed an accessible entry point without the hassle of winches, towing and expensive models.

On researching the models of today, looking for my ideal new model, I came accross the F3K class of 'discus launched glider' (DLG) , which it is safe to say, has totally revolutionised the world of hand-launched model RC gliders.

Back in the early 90's hand-launch gliders were in their primitive stages and launched by throwing over-arm, similar to how a javelin is thrown. I found their lack of launch height and poor flight performance disapointing (mayby it was my lack of skill as well..?).  The newer breed of F3K model gliders offer very high launch capabilities, by virtue of their discus launch method, where the model is held by a wingtip and thrown in an arc, rotating around the body, similar to how a discus would be thrown. This method of launching gives a far easier and more efficient launch... without the flier needing to be an olympic standard javelin thrower, in addition the latest F3K model designs give excellent flight performance, providing both accessible and affordable thermal soaring.

These models can be flown in relatively small flying fields and are quick to setup and fly, meaning even short lunchtime flying sessions are feasible.

This is my personal website, outlining my F3K model flying experiences, my F3K competition results and general F3K  related information and tips.

I hope you find the website both interesting and informative - enjoy!
